Building bright futures

Undergraduate programmes
BEEE undergraduate programmes feature interdisciplinary learning pathways that prepare you for emerging industries. Through the university's Work-Integrated Education programme, educational exchanges, and more, you'll build technical knowledge alongside communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Taught postgraduate programmes
These taught postgraduate programmes cover areas such as building services engineering, fire and safety engineering, high-performance buildings, carbon neutral cities, and urban sustainability.

Fast-track programme
With the fast-track programme, you can take your studies further, faster. High-achieving students can complete both a bachelor's and a master's degree together, thus reducing study time and tuition costs.

Secondary major programmes
The BEng (Hons) Building Sciences & Engineering programme offers secondary majors in Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics (AIDA) and Innovation and Entrepreneurship (IE).

Research postgraduate programme
BEEE's MPhil and PhD programmes stand out for their rigorous research environment where you can work with leading academics.
Law Sing
Law Sing joined the BEng (Hons) Building Services Engineering programme to prepare for a career within the industry. Today, as an MSc Building Services Engineering student, he can see how that foundation has supported both his academic and professional goals. “The course boasts world-class professors and a wealth of professional laboratory equipment, providing us with a high-quality learning experience,” he shares.
Some of Sing’s most valuable lessons took place outside the classroom. During his third-year internship at Sanfield (Management) Limited, a subsidiary of Sun Hung Kai Properties, he got to apply technologies and standards he had learned in class, including BIM. In his fourth year, he went on an exchange programme to Singapore. “This experience allowed me to step outside my comfort zone and broaden my horizons,” he shares.
Those experiences continue to shape his journey today. After graduation, he joined a government-sponsored building services engineer training programme. His long-term goal is to become a registered building services engineer.

Shmidt Arailym
Shmidt Arailym, a BEng (Hons) Building Services Engineering graduate, describes her time at PolyU as “a great experience.” The holistic teaching approach, combined with responsive professors who are deeply passionate about their field, motivated her to continuously expand her knowledge.
For her final-year project, Arailym studied how comfortable people feel when taking a shower. Combining her engineering knowledge with programming skills, she developed a computer model that predicts how people might experience various bathroom temperatures and shower conditions.
Her academic achievements ultimately led to a scholarship awarded by the Hong Kong Institution of Engineering. “This opportunity has not only helped me financially but also continues to inspire me to strive for excellence in my engineering studies and contribute to the field,” she shares.

Cheung Wai Kit
In 2018, Cheung Wai Kit’s BEng (Hons) in Building Services Engineering journey began with the building of a solid foundation in engineering principles, building systems design, and building management. But it was the support from his professors that would prove to be most transformative for him. “Their guidance and mentorship not only propelled my academic success but also opened doors to early research opportunities,” he explains.
Those opportunities eventually led him to discover a passion for fire safety. Now a final year PhD student, Kit has further advanced his expertise through international research exchanges, academic competitions, industry experience, and presentations at international conferences.
Looking ahead, he is eager to enter the industry after graduation. He hopes to bridge the gap between academic research and industry practice, translating research findings into practical engineering solutions that enhance building safety. “The support from my professors and the department's outstanding resources has inspired me to pursue meaningful contributions to the field and work towards creating a safer and more resilient built environment,” he says.
