Shmidt Arailym, a BEng (Hons) Building Services Engineering graduate, describes her time at PolyU as “a great experience.” The holistic teaching approach, combined with responsive professors who are deeply passionate about their field, motivated her to continuously expand her knowledge.
“This opportunity has not only helped me financially but also continues to inspire me to strive for excellence in my engineering studies and contribute to the field,” she shares.
For her final-year project, Arailym studied how comfortable people feel when taking a shower. Combining her engineering knowledge with programming skills, she developed a computer model that predicts how people might experience various bathroom temperatures and shower conditions.
Her academic achievements ultimately led to a scholarship awarded by the Hong Kong Institution of Engineering.
