Not all European degrees are created equal, and where you earn yours shapes what comes next. The University of Szeged (SZTE), located in Hungary's sunniest city, is part of the European Higher Education Area, meaning your degree is fully EU-accredited and recognised across borders.
SZTE’s prestige is built on 12 distinguished faculties, including the Albert Szent-Györgyi Medical School--one of the university’s key faculties offering programmes that develop real-world skills and enhance employability. In fact, whether programmes focus on Social Studies, Health Studies, IT, Natural Science or beyond, each and every one is designed with your career success in mind.

Katalin Karikó, Nobel Prize laureate and a Research Professor at the University of Szeged.
"Do not compare yourself constantly with classmates. Value personal connections, believe in yourself, and focus on what you can change."
Florabelle Ruano Cabarrubias
PhD in Pharmacy
"I chose to study at the SZTE because it offers research projects that align with my interests. I also appreciate the quiet and green environment, which I believe is very conducive to studying and maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
I’m currently finishing my PhD Degree in Pharmacy. Previously, I was the President of the European University Alliance for Global Health (EUGLOH) local student board at SZTE. EUGLOH is a consortium of nine universities, so my role involved working on both international and local levels and promoting our activities to students. Being part of this alliance provided me with several opportunities to meet the 2023 Nobel Laureate in Medicine or Physiology, Professor Katalin Karikó. I gained a glimpse into her life as a scientist and had a brief conversation with her about her experiences. Thanks to SZTE and EUGLOH, I was surrounded by people whom I never thought I would be in the same room with.”

Samy Maherzi
BSc in Business Administration and Management
"I chose SZTE because not only does it offer the degree that was relevant to me in English, but also it was accredited by the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) organisation and SZTE itself was ranked the best university in Hungary. My favourite subject is business in Asia because I am interested in international business and real-life case studies of market-entry strategies.
Our teacher is exceptionally good at teaching, and he uses his real-life experience as examples to teach us the subject. I would like to pursue my career goals, which consist of improving my B2 in Hungarian, pursuing an MSc in international management, and getting into the management consulting industry."

Chang Yong Lee
MD in General Medicine
"SZTE holds an excellent reputation, particularly due to its association with Nobel Prize laureate Albert Szent-Györgyi, the discoverer of vitamin C. His legacy inspired me to join this distinguished institution. Szeged is a cosy, student-friendly city that provides all essentials without the distractions often found in larger cities. It's an ideal environment for medical students, allowing us to focus primarily on our studies.
Living and studying in Hungary, among students from diverse backgrounds, taught me to appreciate different cultures, values, and beliefs. This experience is shaping me into a compassionate doctor who values patient perspectives as much as their medical needs. I aim to specialise in medicine in the US, subsequently branching into related business ventures that intertwine my medical and business expertise.”
