This programme was designed to equip aspiring consultants, analysts, and economists with cutting-edge tools and methodologies to address real-world challenges. From the start, it emphasises rigour. “It is essential to apply empirical methods appropriate to the issues under consideration and the type of data available,” says Professor Catherine Cazals.

“Our teaching provides solid training in the most recent empirical and econometric tools, with concrete applications in fields like industrial organisation, finance, and public policy evaluation.”

In the first year, students establish a foundation in core economic concepts and quantitative techniques, with electives to tailor their learning to specific career ambitions. The second year builds on this, diving deeper into econometrics, empirical analysis, and the practical application of large datasets. Students also explore microeconometrics, time series analysis, and statistical tools in the first semester. By the second semester, they are applying these skills to pressing issues in finance, health, and public policy.

“In most courses, students are required to work on projects in teams, dealing with real economy topics,” explains Professor Cazals. “This helps them learn how to apply the empirical tools learned in class and adapt them to the issues at hand.”

“The mere fact that researchers outside economics like me can teach at TSE is a testimony to the interdisciplinarity of the school.”

Marion Hoffman

"My time at TSE pushed me to apply for a consultant job because I loved the diversity of use cases we studied there. It showed me the variety of jobs we can pursue as TSE alumni."
