MA Dance: Performance

The MA Dance: Performance is a new and revised version of an earlier postgraduate offering, EDGE, which followed the structure of a dance company as is common in the higher education dance sector. It recruited exceptionally well when it launched this year and is now taking applicants for the September 2024 intake.

What sets this programme apart is how it goes beyond the conventional forms of dance performance, and focuses on collaborative processes, cultivating the artistic agency and versatility of LCDS students.

These four pillars are clarity, adaptiveness, empowerment and communication, and integrity. You will pick up the relevant tools to be able to work in and out of the studio and be given the know-how to thrive in the international dance sector today. “This course is designed to expose students to various performance projects operating across different performance mediums,” says Afiyan-English. “We'll look to cultivate a multidisciplinary approach to performance and craft working with some of the top artists and creatives active in the industry today.”

“This MA aims to support students in achieving a level of mastery within their craft,” says Tom Afiyan-English, course leader. “And central to this idea of mastery, we pay attention to some very specific pillars.”
