Originally from China, Yun Zhang arrived at Stony Brook University in 2017, passionate about understanding ageing and Alzheimer's disease. Drawn by the expertise of Dr. Sean Clouston, a renowned researcher in the field, she joined the Population Health and Clinical Outcomes Research Programme.

The programme's focus on population health, particularly the specialisation in cognitive ageing, fit Zhang's research interests. Under Dr. Clouston's guidance, she delved into research projects, honing her skills and gaining invaluable experience. Collaborations with Dr. Hou Wei and other professors further enriched her knowledge and solidified the foundation for her future career.

Zhang enjoyed courses like Biostatistics, which equipped her with essential statistical skills and hands-on experience with various statistical software.

These, alongside the support of mentors like Dr. Hou Wei, Dr. Lisa A. Benz Scott, and particularly Dr. Clouston, who championed her research and publications, defined her PhD journey. Today, Zhang leverages her multifaceted skillset – honed at Stony Brook PPH – in her research and biostatistics role at Columbia University.
