Ask Nigerian graduate Naomi Archibong “Why computer science?” and she would speak enthusiastically of the exhilarating rush of completing a difficult coding assignment.

Archibong graduated with a Computer Science major and a minor in Computer Information Technology and Mathematics. She too recognised and appreciated the versatility of a computer science degree which opened doors to diverse career choices. Reflecting on her undergraduate experience with NKU, she advises future students to take full advantage of the supportive teaching staff and getting to know them beyond the classroom, reminding them that they’ll never know when they would need those recommendation letters.

The passionate computer science enthusiast found herself becoming a camp leader to fourth and fifth graders for NKU’s Centre for Integrative Natural Science and Mathematics (CINSAM). She also worked on a research project on the "Internet of Things," took up the role of a peer coach at the College of Informatics Advising Centre and completed a co-op at a local company.

“All these experiences have made me feel more confident in myself and they have made me feel less symptoms of the infamous 'imposter syndrome'. Ultimately, I have met a lot of wonderful people who have made my stay at NKU a very successful one,” shares Archibong. Upon graduation, Archibong continued with a master’s degree in Computer Science and now works as a project manager at Mastercard in the Operations and Technology area.
