For Abdikadar Ali from Somalia, NKU is a place where everybody cares about you. “As a student here I have had countless mentors to be quite honest,” he says. “Our faculty and staff do everything they can to see us succeed and provide us with exactly what we need to do our best, inside the classroom and outside of it.”

His best memory of NKU? Meeting new people and making great friends. Ali took part in  various activities at NKU, even taking on leadership roles on campus. He served as the President of National Society of Black Engineers of NKU; Student Ambassador for the College of Informatics and Student Support Services (SSS TRIO) and Junior Advisor for Alpha Lambda Honor Society. He was a Research Assistant as well as a Teaching Assistant in the Department of Computer Science as well, where he explored various projects and put his skills and knowledge into practice.

“I definitely enjoyed and continue to enjoy every bit of my time on campus and the long-lasting friendships I have built,” he says.

Ali encourages future students to get to know their professors outside of class. “A mentor makes all the difference,” he says.
