Lavanya Chutke

Class of 2023

Arriving in second grade, Chutke spent 11 years with CDNIS. If there’s one word she’d use to describe CDNIS, it’s “mosaic.”

"CDNIS is host to different strokes of people whose individuality can flourish," she says. "What I find really cool is that when you take a proverbial step back, all those parts you'd think would not make sense together, paint a really beautiful and cohesive image."

Now studying psychology with a minor in cognitive science at the University of Hong Kong, Chutke continues to build on the skills she developed at CDNIS – generating original ideas, thinking critically, and solving complex problems central to her academic journey.

As a mental health advocate and one of the student leaders for the school’s Global Goals Council, she was introduced to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. This experience empowered her to collaborate with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

"I find myself building meaningful relationships and articulating my ideas with confidence,” she says. "CDNIS taught me to be open to other’s perspectives and to form interpretations that embrace inclusivity.”
