Igniting Global University Aspirations

Dual Diplomas, Infinite Possibilities: CDNIS Leads the Way

For over 35 years, Canadian International School of Hong Kong (CDNIS) has cultivated academically driven, globally minded graduates who thrive in the world’s top universities. Last year alone, members of the Class of 2025 received nearly 800 offers from institutions across 10 countries and territories, including Ivy League universities, Russell Group institutions, top research universities, specialist art programmes and top liberal arts colleges. This success reflects the school’s commitment to academic excellence, character development, and global citizenship.

“From an early age, CDNIS students are active, creative, collaborative, globally-minded problem solvers with a clear focus on the end result that enables them to be accepted into the top universities and colleges around the world.”

Academic Rigour and Continuity

CDNIS offers a rigorous and continuous academic pathway from nursery to graduation, with nearly half of its graduates having begun their learning journey in the Lower School. As a through-train IB World School, CDNIS delivers the three core IB programmes, together with the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).

Dual-Diploma Programme

Unique to CDNIS, students have the opportunity to graduate with two highly recognized diplomas earned concurrently: the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IBDP) and the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). This dual diploma sets CDNIS apart as the only school in Hong Kong and outside Canada providing this distinct advantage. Unlike many institutions where the IBDP is reserved for select students, CDNIS offers it to all students, underscoring its inclusive yet ambitious ethos. This approach ensures students meet rigorous national and international standards, giving graduates a globally recognized education that opens doors to top post-secondary institutions across a wide range of disciplines.

Holistic Development and Leadership

CDNIS students graduate not only with strong academic foundations but also with the essential soft skills that set them apart in post-secondary environments. Through a rich array of extracurricular opportunities, including competitive athletics, over 60 student-led clubs, and world-class performing arts showcased in a 604-seat professional-grade theatre, CDNIS students develop leadership, collaboration, creativity and resilience. These experiences empower them to thrive in diverse academic and social settings, preparing them to lead with confidence and integrity.

University Counselling Programme

At CDNIS, university counselling is highly personalized and strategically designed to support each student’s unique aspirations. Students are thoughtfully paired with dedicated university advisors who guide them through every stage of the application process, including competitive scholarships, athletic recruitment, creative portfolios and ambitious university targets.

The university counselling programme emphasizes long-term planning, helping students make informed decisions about curriculum pathways, standardized testing, extracurricular involvement and personal statements. With a strong academic foundation and holistic preparation, CDNIS students consistently gain admission to top-tier institutions such as Oxbridge, Ivy League universities, leading Canadian and Hong Kong universities, elite medical and dental schools, and renowned art and drama academies.

At Rhodes Business School, part of the Faculty of Commerce, the AMBA-accredited MBA is grounded in the theme “Leadership for Sustainability.” You’ll find that every subject weaves in sustainable leadership principles. You’ll learn how to balance economic success with social and environmental responsibility. Teaching is guided by the school’s 4E model — Economy, Ethics, Ecology, and Equity. Your coursework will include a mix of core and elective modules, assessed through assignments, tests, or exams, which make up 67% of your degree. You’ll need to pass each module. The remaining 33% comes from a research mini thesis, which you must also complete successfully.

Master of Business Administration (MBA)

“I feel incredibly fortunate to have studied in such a great programme. Throughout the architectural master's programme, the emphasis on finding, developing, and strengthening my position in the field of architecture was a key focus.

The diverse range of engineering and architecture subjects, ranging from indoor climate and structural tectonics to materiality, transformation, and sustainability, allowed me to explore my passions, while the interdisciplinary nature of the programme provided invaluable support for this journey.

The PBL approach, which centres around real-world problems and addressing societal challenges, particularly in sustainability, equipped me with the practical skills and theoretical knowledge needed for life after graduation.

Furthermore, collaborative group work was a fundamental aspect of the programme, pushing us to develop the skills necessary to work effectively in a team-based environment. This experience taught me to work alongside people from different disciplines, tackling complex challenges that extend far beyond what any individual could address alone.”

“My master’s experience in Urban Design at Aalborg University was the greatest, thanks to the unique integration of social science and engineering. Engaged teaching and Problem-Based Learning (PBL) enhanced my teamwork skills, an invaluable asset for my future career.

As an urban design graduate, I have gained the ability to tackle complex urban, regional and societal challenges. With interdisciplinary knowledge from both engineering and social science, I am well-equipped to design cities for people that address these future challenges. I also appreciate the flexibility of my field, allowing me to pursue diverse career paths, from city planning and community engagement to engineering firms or small architectural firms. Whether working on small-scale urban details or large-scale city planning, the skills I have acquired empower me to contribute to sustainable and long-term urban development.”

“I really enjoyed project-based learning at AAU, where everyone engages with knowledge like clay, reshaping it into something new throughout the project development process. This approach to learning has continued to help me grow, even after graduation.”
