As an educator, his career has crossed many disciplines in various countries. It allowed him to teach engineering, management, and economics, as well as live in the US, Germany, and the UK. Some of the highlights in his career include designing better aircraft or growing more entrepreneurial organisations and communities.

Today, he is an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering in UVM's College of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences and the Steven Grossman Endowed Chair in Entrepreneurship. Speak with him, and you'll discover his never-ending passion for pursuing his interests. "Most recently, I am collaborating with a university and community partners to explore the design of technology ventures and entrepreneurial ecosystems both in the small towns of Vermont and in other rural regions across the US," says Monsen.

Little wonder why the associate professor is able to impart plenty of his real-world experiences to his students. "While students are not directly involved in my research, I do apply my research to the real world and support students with an interest in entrepreneurship through the UVM Entrepreneurship Club, UVM Catamount Innovation Fund (CIF), and UVM Academic Research Commercialization (ARC) programme," he shares.
