Burgert Daniel Maree

Burgert Daniel Maree was happy to venture off the beaten track by signing up for UTU’s Master's Degree Programme in Futures Studies. “Futures Studies is a fascinating field of study, which aims to equip students with the ability to envision different kinds of futures and determine trajectories to get there, considering historical and current trends,” he says. “The world is ever-changing and uncertain, and this could easily lead to anxiety and despair. Futures Studies helps in developing the necessary agility to navigate these murky waters and envision a future for humanity that is both sustainable and an adventure to live in!”

He enjoys his minor subject on Sustainability as it gets the whole class together.

“It involves a lot of group work and is stretched out through the whole academic year. I have been very fortunate to work with wonderful peers in my group (shout out to Nathali, Ann, Dzmitry, Megan, Zakir, Maksim, Lila, Lola and Aino!). They have challenged my thinking and helped me develop a lot in my year at UTU.” he says.
