For Almira Yausheva, studying at UTU uncovered unknown talents and passions in her. Hailing from Kazakhstan, she had lived in the Czech Republic for eight years before joining UTU. “My main criteria to choose the next destination for studying were the quality of education and interesting programme content; UTU matched both of those,” she says.
Although her degree was in Graphic Design, Almira is now undertaking a Master's Degree Programme in Education and Learning. “Five years ago, I would never have imagined such a radical change in my career path,” she says. “However, during my work experience, I had a chance to teach design to university students, and I loved it! Then my interest started shifting, and I got more interested in improving my pedagogical skills and helping students to learn more effectively. This is how educational sciences became attractive. The transition between careers is a long process and joining UTU is one of the first steps.”
The graduate programme at UTU opened a door into a whole new area which Almira was excited to be a part of. She notes that the flexible curriculum, research-oriented projects, available internships in the field, and extracurricular activities, are the reasons why she was able to experience different aspects and potential areas of focus.
