Jose Gomez, a doctoral candidate in Information Technology from Paraguay focused on computer networking, was initially drawn to CEC for its renowned faculty, cutting-edge research, and strong industry ties. Currently in the final stages of completing his PhD, Gomez believes it has surpassed his expectations.

Gomez's research interests lie in P4 programmable data planes, TCP congestion control, passive measurements, and buffer sizing. At the Cyber Infrastructure Lab, he is developing a P4-based system to improve fairness for network flows with varying RTTs. He has also contributed to scientific journals and presented his findings at conferences.

"The programme stood out to me because of its comprehensive coverage, encompassing network design, programming,  and security. The hands-on experience, professors, and staff make my learning experience at USC exciting. I believe this programme will prepare me well for a career in Information Technology."
