Elie Kfoury, Assistant Professor in CEC’s Integrated Information Technology, earned his PhD in Informatics from USC after connecting with his advisor at a conference in Greece. Drawn by the programme's resources, USC proved an ideal starting point for his doctoral studies.

During his PhD, Kfoury focused on enhancing computer network performance, particularly in Software-Defined Networking (SDN) and programmable data planes (P4). His dissertation introduces a system utilising passive measurements from P4 switches to dynamically adjust router buffer sizes, significantly improving network performance across various applications like VoIP and video streaming, and optimising Quality of Service (QoS) metrics.

"I was working with a PI with the resources and connections needed to conduct state-of-the-art research in programmable networks,” Kfoury says. “Additionally, the department has affiliations with major tech companies, including Intel, VMware, Cisco, etc. This allowed me to gain connections and obtain professional certificates relevant to the job market."
