MSc Sustainable Environmental Management

Regina Ezinne Ben-Ibezim

For Regina Ezinne Ben-Ibezim, studying at the University of Plymouth was an easy choice. “It had stellar reviews and was located on the coast,” she says. “Furthermore, graduates were doing well in their chosen careers, with nothing but good things to say about the university.”

Today, the MSc Sustainable Environmental Management student is proud to agree. Faculty members have been supportive and lessons have been enlightening. “My favourite modules would be climate change (science and policy), environmental economics, and professional practice in the environmental sector."

Ben-Ibezim’s dissertation topic is “the potential for soil composed of waste materials to meet threshold concentrations for heavy metal contamination,” with a focus on damaged soils and their remediation. She thoroughly enjoys every minute of lab work the project has enabled her to experience. The student is also extremely grateful to faculty members for giving her early exposure to the process of conducting research. Without such experiences, she wouldn’t be able to write essays as well as she does today.

Once she graduates, Ben-Ibezim plans on remaining in the UK and gaining professional experience before pursuing a PhD. Thanks to Plymouth University’s reputation for unwavering support, Ben-Ibezim is confident her goals are achievable. “I have greatly benefitted from student career services,” she says. “I love how their team is always ready to help.
