This programme explores the scientific basis of human health, disease and therapeutics in a learning environment that highlights recent developments and examines how research informs clinical and diagnostic practice.

In the first year, students lay the foundation for future learning by exploring topics such as human anatomy, pathology, disease, metabolism and immunity, among others. You then progress to develop a deeper understanding of core biomedical disciplines with an emphasis on the scientific understanding of pathological processes and diagnostic practice. Driven and determined candidates are offered the opportunity to undertake six or 12 month industrial placements between Year 2 and 3 or to transfer to the Applied Biomedical Science route and graduate as a NHS Biomedical Scientist, following a year-long diagnostic laboratory training programme.

Your final year will see you turn your focus to specialist Biomedical Science disciplines, following your interests and passion, and undertake a research project, which will employ all your training and skills to give you the chance to shine. Taken together, these skillsets will give you a significant edge in your future employment prospects.
