Take your coaching game to the next level with this part-time, two-year programme that’s all about professional engagement and knowledge exchange. Offered by the Department of Physical Education and Sport Sciences, it is being considered for alignment with the higher levels of coaching qualifications.
Here’s an opportunity to refresh your insight, brush up on practical skills, and gain renewed confidence to tackle a full-spectrum coaching career. You will learn to conduct research and factor the results in your strategies. Beyond that, you will gain a wider understanding of the intersections between sports, business, and society. Your own coaching will form the basis of the curriculum; by the end of it, you would have challenged your thinking several times over to significantly evolve your practice.
Simply put, this MSc is centred and directly applicable to your coaching career — as witnessed by athletics coach Richard Connolly. “The course has helped me to remove myself from my day-to-day coaching in order to consider and document why I coach; it is introducing the means by which I can reflect on and improve my practice. Our discussions in class and the coffee dock have also thrown up some excellent nuggets on how other coaches and sports approach common scenarios from a different direction,” he shares.
