Systems and Control

Learn to understand how the interplay between simple systems can lead to novel emergent behaviours with the MSc in Systems and Control. Think of feats such as space exploration, energy grid stabilization and logistic automation – these are dynamic systems that interact with their environment via inputs and outputs.

This engineering field is highly multidisciplinary. Learn to apply mathematical models across vast domains like electronics, mechanics, chemistry, biology, medicine, economics, and social sciences. Choose between more fundamental, mathematical courses and more application-oriented courses – regardless of choice, you’ll benefit from close collaboration between your peers and faculty members.

Understanding how these systems work is highly relevant in many application fields. This ability is valued in established high-tech companies and technology start-ups, setting you up for interesting career opportunities after graduation.

Hear from the student

“During my master's in Systems and Control, I had a lot of freedom to discover my own interests. What I really like about the field is that it is multidisciplinary; it’s a combination of mathematics, physics, and computing science. This combination ensures that you stay aware of the practical implementations of the theory that is being discussed. I am currently doing a PhD program, in which I am studying the potential of a new type of computer, which could operate in a more energy-efficient way, like a human brain.”
