For those interested in exploring the challenges of digital technology in the 21st century, the MSc in Mechanical Engineering is the right launchpad. Learn how AI and data science are integral and essential parts of modern mechanical engineering and apply them to the classical design and construction of complex mechanical systems.
Three tracks are available. Opt for courses in Advanced Instrumentation, Smart Factories, and Smart and Green Energy Systems. All come with compulsory courses such as Computational Solid Mechanics, Introduction to Data Science, and Experimental Design, but still offer a fully customizable experience. At the end of your course, you’ll have the opportunity to produce two theses, which can be done with a company or the university itself.
Being part of the programs means closely working with the Innovation Cluster Drachten, a group of high-tech companies in the northern Netherlands. This opens up opportunities for students to be part of research and development teams where innovative high-tech systems, products and solutions are developed using cutting-edge technologies.
“I chose the Master in Mechanical Engineering with the Smart Factories track. It became clear to me just how broad it was – I had an opportunity to immerse myself in different subjects like mathematics, robotics, and materials science. I really liked the contact between the different companies and the university, and working together gave me a lot of energy and confidence. Once I graduate, I’ll work for ASML as a system integrator.”
