The PhD in Biochemical Engineering brings together motivated and intelligent students from the world over to address 21st century challenges in the field. It encompasses the exploration of a variety of technical areas including fermentation, metabolic engineering, synthetic biology and pharmaceutical production, aiming to create advances that have the potential to solve pressing issues faced by the global population.
Within the programme, students learn to tackle research problems surrounding sustainable biofuels and bio-based plastics, as well as advance technologies to produce high-value chemicals and biopharmaceuticals. They work alongside a thriving and interdisciplinary academic environment, allowing for plenty of opportunities for collaboration in research and other projects.
