Lyndsay McCormick, a soon-to-be graduate of the BN (Hons) Children’s Nursing programme, has always been drawn to caring for children and their families. She particularly enjoyed the BN’s real-world aspects, working alongside experienced nurses and healthcare teams.

Placements helped her build confidence and developed essential skills, while positive feedback from families and staff confirmed that she had chosen the right career. The long hours were demanding, but she found the experience rewarding. McCormick credits the support of lecturers and tutors as vital to her journey.

“Karen Blythe has been incredibly knowledgeable and very supportive, always offering guidance and advice, while Rebecca Bryson, my personal academic tutor, has also been a constant source of encouragement and support,” she says.

Now with strong clinical, communication, leadership, and critical thinking skills, McCormick now plans to pursue a Master’s in Adult and Mental Health Nursing and hopes to work at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.
