Born from the entrepreneurial spirit of northern Portugal, Porto Business School has evolved into a prominent player in global business education. Today, the school has 40 associated companies including major players like Bosch, Deloitte, and PwC. The school’s global reach is further enhanced through partnerships with more than 50 institutions, such as IE Business School, Rome Business School, and Woxsen University — all of which give its students a truly global perspective.
But what truly sets the school apart is its location. Vibrant Porto is the second largest city of one of the top 10 safest countries in the world. The climate is as welcoming as its people, who are rich in culture. From mediaeval architecture to world-class cuisine, Porto offers an unforgettable backdrop for students looking to transform their careers and lead with impact.

One of the highlights of Porto Business School is its International MBA programme. It’s designed to be flexible and customisable, catering to the needs of both local and international students. Essential management skills are fused with critical topics such as innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainability. As a result, students benefit from a transformative learning journey that equips them with vital skills for success.
One International MBA, many types of success
The International MBA has several key tracks, including:
Job-ready and future-ready
International MBA students learn best by doing, and at Porto Business School, this hands-on approach is at the heart of their philosophy.
Porto Business School provides our students the skills and networks they need to thrive in the global job market. With a focus on practical learning and industry connections, Porto Business School’s students are not just job-ready, but future-ready.
A great example of this hands-on approach is the Business Impact Challenge. Here, students tackle real business problems, allowing them to apply their skills in real-world situations. This immersive experience helps them build the confidence and practical knowledge they need to succeed in the business world.
Since the school is located in an area filled with major multinationals, tech startups, luxury retail, and NGOs, live projects are as plenty as influential industry figures from various companies and sectors.
Another exciting feature is the optional Global Immersion Week which takes place before Easter. Classes dive into a local business ecosystem, getting students to form a global perspective by experiencing different cultures and business practices and gaining insights into how companies operate worldwide.
Site visits to local organisations provide even more firsthand experience in navigating cultural and language barriers. Networking opportunities abound during this week, allowing students to connect with professionals and peers from around the globe – connections that can lead to valuable collaborations and future job opportunities.
What the students say
Tadeo M. Renjel, International MBA
Jordan Lewis, International MBA
Estuardo Javier Argüello, International MBA
“Choosing a master’s degree in engineering could have been the easy path for me, but I wanted to learn something new, especially developing my leadership skills and learning about finance and accounting,” he says. “Here, we are not only exposed to theoretical knowledge but also engage in hands-on projects, which I believe is vital for a complete learning process.”
Tadeo M. Renjel is from Bolivia. During the MBA, he interned at BorgWarner, which designs and manufactures the systems that define the way the world moves forward. He is currently working as a Supply Chain Analyst at Vestas.
“The impact that the international MBA has had on my professional and personal life is significant. I did not go back to the States; instead, I stayed here and started working for a Portuguese multinational company,” he says. “Porto Business School is challenging not only in an educational sense but also in pushing your soft skills to new limits. Despite the challenges, the experience is also rewarding.
Jordan Lewis, a Puerto Rican, chose Portugal and Porto Business School to expand his knowledge and horizons. After the MBA, he began working for Salvador Caetano, a Portuguese multinational company.
“If I had to choose a word to describe PBS, I would say it serves as a bridge between academia and the business world, fostering creativity and exploration while emphasising profitability and viability,” he says. “I believe it effectively integrates both realms. The programme itself is very integrative; we have covered theoretical knowledge and had many opportunities to apply what we learned while interacting with the Portuguese market and leading firms.”
Estuardo Javier Argüello is Guatemalan. Right after completing the MBA, he worked as a Senior Business Development Consultant at wealth management and financial solutions firm Natixis for a year. Since July 2024, he has been working as a Cost Controller at Prefinsa SA in El Salvador.
An enriching business education awaits you at Porto Business School
My long-term goal is to become a subject matter expert in supply chain, which is the backbone of the industry. I found BGSU's Logistics Systems Engineering program is a combination of engineering and management, which helps me to enhance my knowledge and skills. I joined BGSU in January 2022 and got the opportunity to work as a Graduate Assistant on an industrial project under the guidance of Dr. Sarder.
