For decades, Georgia has been the poultry capital of the world. Today, CAES’ Department of Poultry Science provides world-class poultry science education, nurturing top graduates committed to making poultry production safer, healthier, and more efficient.
The Master of Science in Poultry Science provides training in basic and applied research from poultry science experts as well as practical training in the industry. Facilities for graduate training include the brand-new US$54.1 million Poultry Science Building and laboratories with state-of-the-art equipment for studies in cellular and molecular biology, enzymology and more.
Students earning their Master of Science in Poultry Science can expect to study poultry genetics, embryology, physiology, nutrition and diseases, as well as the economics behind poultry products and the business behind the poultry industry.
"As food production becomes more complex, we're helping students prepare for that future. At the Poultry Science Building, students can conduct innovative research to address complex issues such as ensuring the health and welfare of our birds," says Dr. Todd Applegate, Department Head for Poultry Science at UGA.
