Cher Zheng Jie chose UCL for two main reasons. First, the MSc programme, though coursework-based, included a significant research component. Second, UCL's central London location meant there was always something exciting to do and see.
But what he didn’t expect was to make some of the best friends of his life here. His close-knit group shared notes, supported each other in class, and exchanged ideas during their research projects. Learning, already effective and enjoyable, became even more so.
Visits to the ISIS Neutron and Muon Source at Rutherford Appleton Laboratory and talks from industry experts gave him insights beyond the classroom – inspiring him further.
"Upon completing my studies at UCL, I will be starting my career as a secondary school teacher in Singapore, where I aim to share my passion for chemistry with the next generation of students," he says.
