My graduate school education profoundly prepared me for my work in public health. I have had coworkers tell me that once they hear I have a master’s in public health, they know I have the necessary skills to do high-level work. It’s a blessing to feel confident that this is true. I have used skills from every course I took at Thomas Jefferson University’s College of Population Health.
Whether in reporting COVID-19 case numbers, writing research reports, presenting on the opioid crisis, or advocating for those not in the room, skills from classes like biostatistics and public health law came into play. I’ve also utilized softer skills Jefferson taught me, such as public speaking and motivational interviewing, to shape how I approach every project.
