The MS in Construction Management is a STEM program designed to equip students with the expertise to plan and execute each phase of the construction process of complex commercial, infrastructure and residential building projects — safely, on time, within budget, and to customer expectations. Students will gain a broad practice-oriented understanding of construction technology, business, project management, architecture, and engineering. Specific emphasis is placed on the management of the construction process from start to end. Professors come from diverse backgrounds in construction management, general contracting, and architecture.
Hands-on activities and membership in Sigma Lambda Chi, an international construction honor society with a network of 19,000 members, further enriches this course. For professional experience, students can take advantage of Jefferson’s industry links in the city and tri-state area to land internships and job placements. They can also apply for Internships for Credit, where they work in the construction industry at a particular company and register that internship for academic credit. Accelerated Dual Degree (1+1) options are available in combination with Sustainable Design or Real Estate Development.
