The Master of Urban Design - Future Cities (MUD) program aims to nurture students to become the next generation of urban designers, architects and researchers who can make a difference. It is geared towards those who aspire to develop sustainable, healthy and smart cities and communities. How? Through its unique focus on contemporary urban issues such as urban resilience, carbon neutral communities, wellness and smart technologies. The course is post-professional, STEM-designated, studio-based and provides advanced standing in the Architecture and Design Research PhD.
The Institute for Smart and Healthy Cities — the hub and public face of the — facilitates transdisciplinary research opportunities for students and faculty. Concentrations cross disciplines too. Students can choose concentrations in public health (in collaboration with the Jefferson College of Population Health) or in other specializations, offered in the College of Architecture and the Built Environment, including Geodesign, Urban Revitalization, Smart Cities and Urban Analytics, or Resilient Cities.
