Computer Science

Graduate students in UVM Computer Science work at the forefront of computer and computational sciences in areas including artificial intelligence, information security and privacy, and data science.

Research in CS at UVM impacts the modern world. Our faculty and students study the spread of infectious diseases using network science, how to make AI algorithms private and equitable, and how robots constructed from living cells can be evolved on supercomputers, among other exciting projects.

Grounded in both classical CS expertise as well as data science and complex systems, our graduate programs offer students a unique experience and modern perspective on current challenges in technology. The setting of UVM offers unique opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration in graduate studies—with Medicine, Environmental Science, and Engineering common application areas for our research.
