At just 17, Aroushi Jimulia left her home in Mumbai, India, and embarked on a new academic journey at the University of Nottingham. She joined the BSc Physics (with a year in industry) programme as she was drawn to the university's reputation as a Russell Group institution and the balance it offered between city life and tranquil campus greenery.
Her time in the programme has been a transformative experience, with each module deepening her understanding of Physics.
"The computational modules sparked my interest in coding and have set me up for a potential career in software engineering,” she says. “The theoretical modules kept me engaged and my passion for physics alive."
Jimulia's final year project, along with a summer internship under Dr. Lucia Hackermuller, not only honed her research skills but also provided invaluable insight into life as a PhD student.
Beyond the classroom, her experience at the University of Nottingham extended into industry. Through a university-organised internship at Laser Optical Engineering Ltd, she contributed to cutting-edge laser-based solutions, worked with brands like Nike, and automated processes to improve optical manufacturing.
