Lindsey Cox looks back fondly on her time completing Tennessee Tech’s MBA. “I got an excellent education at an affordable price,” she says. “The MBA taught me how to combine strategic thinking with execution — skills that have shaped my career in innovation and economic development.”
One of her highlights was participating in a combined pitch and case study competition in Washington, DC.
“We ended up placing fourth out of 40 schools. That was such a validating experience for me and really highlighted the quality of the education I was getting,” she shares.
Today, she channels those lessons into her role as the leader of Launch Tennessee, a public-private partnership that supports entrepreneurship and early-stage investment across the state. “We continue to actively invest in companies across the state through our US$70 million fund, InvestTN, adding more companies every day. One example is ATS Innovations, a medical device company founded by a Tennessee Tech alum,” she says.
Cox’s journey has come full circle, as Launch Tennessee collaborates with Tennessee Tech through the Tennessee Technology Advancement Consortium. “We’re working with faculty to explore how their innovative work could lead to spinout companies. It’s exciting to see the potential for new technologies and businesses coming out of Tech,” she says.
