Mokgautsi says the diversity and inclusiveness at TMU gave him a transformative experience that enhanced his academic and personal growth. “The diversity on campus, with students and faculty from various backgrounds and cultures, has created a vibrant and dynamic learning environment. Interacting with peers who bring different perspectives and life experiences has broadened my worldview and deepened my understanding of global issues,” he says.

A recent PhD graduate, Mokgautsi from South Africa chose TMU due to its strong reputation in cancer research, exceptional faculty, cutting-edge research facilities, and commitment to diversity and inclusivity in academia.

Personal experiences and scientific curiosity ignited his interest in Cancer Molecular Biology and Drug Discovery. Witnessing the impact of cancer on loved ones stirred a deep sense of empathy in him. He was determined to use his passion for biology to contribute solutions to what the World Health Organisation calls “the second leading cause of death globally.”
