Val Ian Enriquez

Enriquez knows the sky will be the limit for him once he graduates — he hopes to either work as an analyst, a network security engineer or a digital forensics investigator. “With the increasing demand for cyber security professionals, there are many opportunities for career advancement and professional growth in this field,” he says.

“Practical learning is a key component of TAFE's cybersecurity programmes, with hands-on activities and case studies that simulate real-world scenarios,” he explains. “These activities allow us to apply our knowledge practically and improve our problem-solving skills.”

He then realised that making the transition from software development to cyber security meant being able to defend organisations and help others protect themselves from the growing threat of cybercrime — a leap he knew he could make with an international education.

Enriquez chose the Certificate IV in Cyber Security (22603VIC) as his launchpad to success. This programme was designed to develop the technical skills needed to protect organisations against malicious cyber activities. Since joining, the student has been loving his lessons in networking and coding. At the same time, he’s been applying his newfound skills on readily-available assessment devices.

Val Ian Enriquez is a talented software developer who has always been passionate about technology, hence the thriving career he secured for himself in the Philippines. However, for those in the tech sector, success never implies the end of the road in their journey of personal and professional growth. Training sessions at Accenture and Newlogic opened his eyes to a disturbing trend — as more and more people relied on technology for work and communication, cyber-attacks and data breaches were becoming increasingly common.
