Gone are the days of advanced business degrees focused solely on financial markets and delivering value to stakeholders — such is the case in Cedar City, Utah, where Southern Utah University's (SUU) Dixie L. Leavitt School of Business is based. Here, a whole-person education awaits through dynamic business programmes. They were designed to cater to students from various backgrounds, enabling them to not only enjoy new approaches to teaching and learning but also to gain valuable insights into the intricacies of the US economy.

Then, there are classrooms shaped by students' dynamic backgrounds, adding a layer of uniqueness to the learning journey and benefiting everyone involved. Several pathways unlock the full experience, but two general routes stand out from their comprehensiveness: the Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) degree and the Master of Business Administration degree — both of which thoroughly prepare learners for the complexities of the modern business landscape while laying a solid foundation.

From e-commerce behemoths like Amazon to local community banks — businesses of all sizes are looking for skilled professionals adept in managing big data. Proficiency in mathematics is a gateway to success in this field, as is an AACSB-accredited Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) from SUU.

Led by highly qualified faculty, this programme was designed to teach students the ins and outs of using data, statistical analysis and mathematical models to solve business problems, improve business processes, and make better business decisions. It also gives them experience in working with both data analytics and operations research. In the process, learners strike a balance between technical prowess and real-world application — hence their ability to immediately apply appropriate methodologies in practical ways once they graduate.

International graduates with F-1 immigration status keen on applying their newfound skills in the US will be happy to know they qualify for up to three years of Optional Practical Training (OPT), given the MSBA’s STEM classification.

The Master of Science in Business Analytics

SUU’s Master of Business Administration (MBA) was developed to produce business leaders poised to navigate the complexities of today's increasingly turbulent environment — whether that be by leading multinational corporations or spearheading entrepreneurial ventures. It is just as customisable as it is effective.

The programme extends various choices to guarantee adaptability and tailor-made learning experiences for all. Six routes are available to on-campus learners: the General Emphasis, Business Analytics Emphasis, Finance Emphasis, Healthcare Administration Emphasis, Leadership Emphasis, and Marketing Emphasis. In Fall 2024, the International Business Emphasis will be introduced.

Those looking to propel their careers to new heights are also welcome to pursue the AACSB-accredited programme, thanks to its online option, which is ranked among the country’s top 100, according to the US News & World Report 2019. Regardless of delivery, the SUU MBA always leads to outstanding outcomes — evident through the fact that 96.5% of graduates secure employment upon graduating. Many of them credit their success to the School of Business’s dedicated Career Coaches, who focus on employer outreach to ensure internship and employment opportunities for students and graduates.
