Lulu Cao is a graduate of Salisbury University's dual-degree programme. Drawn to a different culture and way of thinking, she arrived at SU in 2018. While her programme was was called Interdisciplinary Studies, Cao found herself drawn to philosophy thanks to Dr. Grace Clement's engaging classes.
With their interactive discussions, these classes challenged Cao to analyse complex ideas and cultivate her curiosity. This, in turn, fuelled her desire for a master’s degree in Philosophy at Western Michigan. SU’s philosophy department provided the academic foundation, with courses like Modern Philosophy directly preparing her for graduate school.
Today, she works as a full-stack developer, a career path seemingly distant from philosophy. Yet, she credits her analytical and critical thinking skills, honed at SU, for tackling complex application logic.
"I’ve also received immense support from many faculty members at SU, especially from Dr. Clement, who reviewed my writing sample thoroughly, wrote an incredibly strong recommendation letter, and is always ready to help and give advice whenever I need it,” Cao says.
