Jimmy Jenkins's path to filmmaking success began at SU. After graduation, he landed gigs at Black Entertainment Television (BET) and Tyler Perry Studios. However, Jenkins felt he could achieve more, thanks to his time at SU.

Since then, Jenkins has been a creative force, producing eight original stage plays and his 2017 debut feature film, "Sinners Wanted," which premiered on BET and TV One.

Leaving the comfort of established studios was a calculated risk, but Jenkins's foundation at SU gave him the confidence to thrive independently. “My professors at SU had such a big impact on my life. They really cared about educating us to be effective in our professions,” Jenkins says. “SU provided me with a great opportunity to be ahead of my peers by the time I came into the workforce.”

“If students had an idea or a vision, the university was really open to providing the opportunity to make it happen,” he says. “That was one of the first plays I ever did in my life, and it was right at SU.”
