This climb, up 12 positions from the previous year, cements Politecnico's position as the number one university in Italy and places it in the top 8% of universities globally. With 5,663 universities from 106 countries analysed, compared to last year's 2,963, this achievement becomes even more significant.

However, it was anything but a stroke of luck. It’s a testament to the dedication and pursuit of excellence that define Politecnico di Milano. The university's academic and business reputation shines on the global stage, with rankings among the top 100 universities worldwide. Notably, the leap in the Employer Reputation score, rising 17 places to the 77th position, underscores the trust and confidence the industry places in Politecnico graduates.

The first Architecture programme at Politecnico di Milano was offered in 1865. Nowadays the School of Architecture, Urban Planning, and Construction Engineering represents the confluence of tradition and innovation, drawing upon the rich legacies of the Schools of Architecture, Civil Architecture, and Building Engineering-Architecture of the Polytechnic.

At its core, the school is committed to blending diverse disciplines, seamlessly merging humanities, arts, and exact sciences. With a rich heritage rooted in Lombardy's craftsmanship and industrial culture, Milan has long been a global hub for professional design practice. Adding to its illustrious history, the School of Design at Politecnico di Milano uniquely fuses architectural, artistic, technical, and engineering studies.

Established in 1993, its degree course in Industrial Design marked a pivotal moment, making Milan and Politecnico the birthplace of industrial design education in Italy. Today, it stands as the largest international university for the training of product, communication, interior, and fashion designers.

The School of Design

The School of Civil, Environmental, and Land Management Engineering at Politecnico di Milano offers a comprehensive suite of degree programs that address the complexities of modern infrastructure and environmental stewardship.

With programmes based at the Leonardo and Lecco campuses, the school provides specialised training in Environmental and Land Planning Engineering, Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering for Risk Mitigation, and Geoinformatics Engineering.

The School of Industrial and Information Engineering is the largest of the four schools at Politecnico di Milano, training about 60% of the university’s undergraduate and graduate students. It serves as the coordinating body for a wide range of engineering disciplines, including Aerospace, Automation, Biomedicine, Chemistry, Electrical, Electronics, Energy, Industrial Production, Informatics, Management, Materials and Nanotechnology, Mathematics, Mechanics, Nuclear, Physics, and Telecommunications.

All routes aim to deliver world-class education, equipping graduates with the skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary to become international leaders in industry and academia.

The School of Industrial and Information Engineering

Through a broad range of career resources, Politecnico di Milano provides continuous support from the start of a student’s academic journey to beyond graduation. For example, they can meet with a Career Advisor to build their CV, practise for interviews, and discover their skills. In the Internship Centre, they can access personalised consultations on finding and securing internships. The university also offers online courses on crafting an effective CV and cover letter and nailing a job interview.

Entrepreneurial ambitions can come to life here too. Through the PoliHub Innovation Park and Startup Accelerator, the university creates an ecosystem where startups, companies, experts, institutions, and investors collaborate to cultivate new business opportunities. Located at the Bovisa Campus, PoliHub is surrounded by world-class laboratories and resources, including the Department of Industrial Engineering’s laboratories, Design laboratories, FabLab, and a state-of-the-art wind tunnel.
