In just one year, this program will equip you with the computational tools needed to confront a myriad of social challenges. To do so, it combines training in quantitative research methods and social analysis techniques with a specialized sequence of courses that addresses questions of equity, hierarchy, social organization, and social systems.

Coursework is structured around two interdisciplinary courses, a concentration consisting of three courses, and an additional 12 semester hours focused on methodological and statistical applications of core skills. Concentrations include: Data Analytics in the Social Sciences, Computational Social Science, Network Analysis in the Social Sciences, Statistical Methods in the Social Sciences, and Information Ethics.

Upon graduation, you will be equipped to define social problems and operationalize measures and research design; articulate the concepts and theories of quantitative analysis for social inquiry; use a variety of data to analyze the causes and consequences of social problems; apply quantitative techniques; and communicate research to broader audiences.
