The British International School Shanghai, Puxi (BISS Puxi)

For 20 years, The British International School Shanghai, Puxi (BISS Puxi) has been supporting students to make an impact. This year, they’re receiving new scholarships across five areas to embark on their interests: academics, STEAM, performing arts, leadership, and sports. Whilst these are new, features such as dedicated teachers paying individual attention to each student and an easy application process are mainstays. The process to apply to the school is streamlined into four simple steps, and you’re meeting the community from the start.

The Dutch-speaking community in Puxi has the opportunity to follow their primary and secondary education at the Shanghai Dutch School. It helps the students remain connected to their roots, using the Dutch language on a day-to-day basis through their curriculum.

“We are a vibrant, warm and supportive international school community in Shanghai. We work together to provide an outstanding learning experience for our children, culminating in excellent academic outcomes for our graduates” says Andrew Lancaster, Principal of BISS Puxi and winner of the Shanghai Magnolia Silver Award, which recognises expatriates for outstanding contributions to the city.

It’s leaders like him who bring real-world opportunities to BISS Puxi. The school collaborates with The Juilliard School, MIT, UNICEF, and IMG Academy to help students broaden their horizons in fields they would like to specialise in. Sports programmes are facilitated by the Olympic gold medallist sprinter, Marlon Devonish. With global names coming into play, BISS Puxi is the launchpad for children to become high-scoring, high-impact future leaders.

“I’m impressed by the opportunities the school offers for performing arts. Having drama specialists come from Juilliard in New York is unique. My daughter has been inspired to join school productions, thanks to the guidance of the drama teachers.” -  parent to a Year 6 student.

“After transferring our son from a local school to BISS Puxi for a year, I can honestly say it’s the best decision we ever made. He is much happier and always loves sharing his daily activities with us.” - parent of a new joiner.
