The Quantitive Economics track provides a deep dive into advanced economic theory and analytical and quantitative methods. It’s suitable for those looking to pursue doctoral studies or enter careers that require more technically-oriented training. Similar to its sister track, students must complete three core courses and choose from seven elective courses. 

“Machine Learning and Economic Forecasting as well as Derivative Securities have helped me out quite a bit in my professional life,” says Soong Chi Yew, who graduated from the programme in 2003, and is now an Actuarial Officer with China Life Insurance (Singapore). “During my professional life, I am required to complete professional exams with the Society of Actuaries, and so it just happens that many of the concepts I learnt in these two modules are concepts that will appear in my professional exams as well.”
