Applied Economics track
The vast majority of students are enrolled on the Applied Economics track, which provides ideal training for those who are interested in becoming professional economists or economic consultants in business, non-profit, or government organisations.
In addition to the three core courses (in Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, and Econometrics), there is a rich variety of elective courses available, such as Financial Economics, Economic Data Analytics, Behavioural Economics, and International Economics. A recent graduate, Ivan Bernardo, highlights three courses that he found especially valuable.
“For The Economics of Business and Law of Intellectual Assets, I had a lecturer who not only taught us the frameworks and valuation processes for ideas and innovation, but he also advised us on the most important things for a university student, which is the value of history and lifelong learning,” he says.
“In Advanced International Trade, we explored methods and models that explain how the globalised and hyper-connected world is shaped, and in Policy Impact Evaluation Methods, we learned there will always be room for improvement and contributions in economics as you look at one economic question through different lenses.”
