What started in 1847 as a small school for orphaned and disadvantaged women has grown into Midway University — a modern, co-ed institution where students can gain the knowledge and skills to create a better future. The School of Business, Equine & Sports Studies is made up of three departments: Business, Equine Studies, and Sport Studies. They offer students a broad range of academic and career pathways.
Department of Business

The Department of Business is where future entrepreneurs, executives, and industry leaders take their first steps. You will build a foundation in key business principles while choosing from a variety of majors and minors to suit your career aspirations. The department offers both undergraduate and graduate programmes, taught by experienced professionals who bring practical expertise into the classroom.

At the Department of Equine Studies, the path to a future in the equine industry starts with experiential learning in a setting like no other. Located in the heart of Kentucky’s world-renowned horse country, Midway's 200-acre working horse farm, along with expert faculty and many degree programmes and internships prepare you for careers in equine management, training, and other industry-related fields.

If you’re passionate about the business side of sports, a Sports Management degree can open doors to exciting career opportunities. The Department of Sport Studies combines business and management principles with sports, events, and marketing, preparing you to oversee sport programmes across corporate, community, and private sectors.

Whether it’s interning at a world-class horse farm, working with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and professional sports teams, or gaining corporate experience at a global company, you’ll have the connections and opportunities to jumpstart your career.
Midway MBA student Vandan Vadher is gaining hands-on experience through an internship with Kentucky Housing Corporation.

From the classroom to the court, Germán Collado Blanco is making the most of his time at Midway. A Business Administration and Accounting major from Spain, he recently landed an internship with Albrite Financial Group, an accounting, tax planning, and financial planning practice in Kentucky. Alongside his academic achievements, he is also a dedicated member of Midway’s tennis team.

Ruth Slack Roach Leadership Scholarship Programme
The Ruth Slack Roach Leadership Scholarship programme was created to empower women to grow as leaders who serve their communities. Scholarship recipients will:
Mentor students and help them build confidence and leadership skills as the Student Director of the programme.
Develop programme initiatives, coordinate projects, and facilitate regular meetings to keep members engaged.
Act as a bridge between participants and the programme advisor while handling administrative responsibilities.
