– Johnny Persey, Director

“We minimise the difference between being a student and being in the industry. It’s about make, make, make under the guidance of professional filmmakers.”

What truly sets MetFilm School apart is its high-quality, accelerated bachelor’s programmes that take you onto real production sets. It’s especially ideal if you're looking to get a head start and enter the competitive screen industries sooner. With MetFilm School’s intensive training, you’ll be able to fast-track your programme, completing it in as little as two years, compared to the traditional three.

Programmes with speed and substance

Don’t mistake the short duration for shallowness, though. Whether you’re looking to become a powerhouse in acting or develop the technical skills to enter today’s film, TV, and new media industries, these programmes ensure you develop a portfolio that showcases a full range knowledge and skills.

Across four semesters, you’ll dive into the entire process -- pre-production, filming, post -- using professional-grade gear and working with peers and pros. Acting students explore the technical, emotional, and creative depth of screen performance, while collaboration with Production Design and Hair & Make-Up students gives you a real-world view of how sets actually run.

“One of my favourite things about MetFilm School is the stimulating environment. I’ve had the chance to meet incredibly talented creatives who aspire to tell stories in the industry. The main things I’ve learnt about entering the film industry is the importance of knowing other people and building your creative portfolio.

Getting to know actors, cinematographers, and editors has allowed me to build a network of people that I trust and that I can work with on various projects. One of the main reasons why I chose MetFilm School is the practicality of it, and the fact that I’m constantly involved in film products as part of my degree.”

BA (Hons) Practical Filmmaking

“I knew condensing a BA degree course into two years would be intense, but I didn’t quite anticipate how much the school would push us out of our comfort zones and challenge us to be the best actors we can be.

The course very much mimics the industry: we work with different tutors each module, all with individual and incredibly valuable approaches. That’s just something you don’t get elsewhere.”

Berlin is truly a city that has it all. There is always something to do, no matter what your interests are. One of the things that surprised me the most is how diverse the music scene is here, it doesn't matter what kind of music you make or listen to, there is a place for music here and BIMM helps you find it.

Industry-led, practical training

At MetFilm School, you learn and then you create. Learning by doing takes precedence, with programmes informed by industry practice and curricula that mirror real-life productions, be it during the final Graduation Production or a genre-based short film. Your professors are actors, directors, cinematographers, screen practitioners, and the likes, with renowned guest speakers often leading workshops and live projects too. Upon graduation, you’ll have explored every genre, every technique -- evident by the polished showreel or film portfolio you’ll have to show.

And thanks to MetFilm School’s rich industry network, many students even get to pursue a two-to-four-week work placement in their second year. Students in the past have undertaken placements with MetFilm Production, where they’ve worked on award-winning projects like Misha and the Wolves.
