Lewis University is home to over 80 undergraduate majors and programmes of study, 35 graduate programmes, and accelerated programmes for working adults through the Colleges of Aviation, Science and Technology, Business, Education and Social Sciences, Humanities, Fine Arts and Communications, and Nursing and Health Sciences.
With a student-to-faculty ratio of 14:1, your professors are attuned to your interests and career goals. You get direct, hands-on experience and work side-by-side with professors and classmates.
Complementing this instruction is Lewis's Career Services Center. It hosts events like the annual "Career Expo 2024" to connect students with potential employers and internship opportunities. What's more, the biannual Career Fairs bring over 300 companies seeking to hire Lewis graduates to campus. For College of Business undergraduate students, Lewis even offers guaranteed internships from companies located all around the world.
For international students in STEM-designated graduate programmes, Lewis counsellors provide personalised guidance to navigate the complexities of Curricular Practical Training (CPT) and Optional Practical Training (OPT) employment options. CPT and OPT refer to two types of practical training available for international students on F-1 visas. As many as over 85% of international students in some programmes have landed successful placements.
“The Career Services office has a CPT and OPT specialist who is familiar with how international students can gain employment benefits while on the F1 visa,” says graduate Venki Ankathi. “ I visited them many times to help prepare me for the competitive job market in the US. I felt confident that their knowledge of OPT would help me to find a job. Today, I work full-time as a financial analyst in Chicago at an international company.”
"The skills I learned from my degree help me analyse data effectively, derive insights, and make data-driven decisions that drive business success. The capstone project, in particular, provided me with practical experience in using analytical abilities to solve real business challenges. Also, while studying at Lewis, I worked on campus within Student Services.
