Canada | MA Musical Theatre Creatives

My time at the conservatoire has been amazing so far. I have had lots of opportunities to share work, cross-collaborate across programmes, and meet important people in the industry. My classmates come from all walks of life: ages, races, gender identities, sexualities, knowledge, and experiences. The people I work with every day are some of the most interesting individuals I’ve ever met, and each one contributes to my ongoing creative practice.

Every week, all the master’s students across the School of Drama come together for New Works Lab, where we pitch and test new work in development. This is where I receive some of my most valuable creative feedback, as I can consult performers, directors, music directors, and dramaturgs, all of whom bring vastly different yet equally important perspectives to my work. My colleagues are all incredibly eager to create, and it shows in the quality of their projects.

My tutors and lecturers care deeply about the success of their students. They put in extra effort to ensure we have the support we need, and the level of respect that students — both undergraduate and postgraduate — have for them is truly powerful. Leeds Conservatoire has been an amazing step forward for my career, and I can’t wait to see what the rest of my course has in store!
