Shaping future business leaders through dynamic opportunities

Just 15 miles from Atlanta, Georgia is one of the most dynamic, comprehensive business schools in the US: Coles College of Business at Kennesaw State University.

This is a college that embodies what it means to be an all-in-one. Programmes are designed with industry-relevant courses. Research and career growth opportunities spur action and impact. Networks are rich with highly respected experts. Students gain a degree and go on to carve their own success stories.

The sky is seemingly the true limit. KSU has recently signed a partnership with Fukuoka University, meaning students can soon take fintech courses from Japan. A partnership with Riipen is allowing online graduate students in information systems to bridge classroom learning with professional experience. For the Evening MBA programme, the university has just launched a new Rural Management concentration, making it the first of its kind in the US. Faculty experts had flown to India to speak at the US-India Business Summit on the dangers of relying on AI, while students were carrying the school’s legacy at the 14th Annual Bill Mulcahy IIA Atlanta Chapter Case Competition, earning first and second place.

As one of the top 2% of AACSB-accredited schools worldwide in both business and accounting, Coles College is one of the best graduate business schools in the US. With experienced faculty members and strong professional development opportunities, you can leverage the knowledge and skills gained to take your career to the next level upon graduation, with many academic programmes reporting at or near 100% placement.

Career-readiness stems from Coles College’s expansive real-world opportunities. Through a partnership with the Department of Career Planning and Development, business students have access to a dedicated internship and co-op advisor. In the past, interns have worked at some of the top companies in Atlanta, including Coca-Cola, Wells Fargo, Delta Airlines, and Porsche. The Centre for Student Success also offers professional development courses that cover practical internship preparation and one-on-one career coaching.

Students often participate in national competitions, presenting solutions to business challenges, which frequently leads KSU to the top spots. At the National Collegiate Sales Competition (NCSC), where Fortune 500 companies recruit, more than 75% of participants receive a job offer. Other learning opportunities include the study abroad programme, which allows students to travel to countries such as Germany, Greece, Italy, and Portugal. Student organisations are well and active on campus, from the Hospitality Leadership Club to the National Association of Black Accountants to the Real Estate Society — excellent for building networks, teamwork, and leadership skills.

Dylan Ruvebana

Having earned his bachelor’s degree in mechatronics, robotics, and automation engineering, Ruvebana wanted to diversify his experience through an MBA. He conducted research into Coles College’s MBA programmes and found the Evening MBA to be a great fit. “From the diversity of the student experiences to the support of the faculty and staff, and the resources at my disposal, my experience and transition into business have been seamless,” he says.

The format of the Evening MBA has allowed Ruvebana to work during the day and take nine credits of classes in the evenings. “It gives the flexibility to focus on other things, and I don’t have to trade off class or work at any given point,” he says. “The professors are also a big help with this, balancing their academic expectations with the students’ professional expectations.”

The most significant takeaways Ruvebana received from the MBA curriculum were the emphasis on goals and strategies, as well as the importance of supply chain management. He equates business to a successful athlete who sets a large goal, then dictates their life choices to achieve said goal.

“A company should have companies backed by strategies that inform all of their decision making, from the C-suite down to individual contributors.”
