The way they teach and approach things here is different compared to Europe. Professors are passionate and amazing – they always push us to participate, and relate theory to case studies for us to understand things better. The scholarship provides possibilities that make people believe they can do way more than what is usually destined for them to do.

When Noa Henry pursued her bachelor’s degree in business studies in the Netherlands, her final semester abroad brought her to Hong Kong, which she fell in love with. Sometime later, she decided to pursue a master’s, and her friend recommended HKBU, insisting that it was a great place with a welcoming environment for international students.

The International Postgraduate Scholarship made studying in Hong Kong financially viable. “The scholarship really helped me extend the possibilities,” says Henry, now in her third month of her master’s – the MSc in Business Management

From day one, Henry had the school’s full support. The career centre assigned a mentor to aid in application processes or programme discussions, and even organised career fairs and invited industry professionals, such as representatives from Big Four companies. It’s a rewarding experience; Henry feels the same way about her classes and peers.

“The Entrepreneurship class is quite challenging in terms of workload, but it’s the class that has given me the most practical knowledge I can apply in the future,” she says. “Another highlight would be my classmates – I was scared that I couldn’t make friends because of the language or cultural barriers, but the students are very keen to get to know you, and it’s also a great experience for them to train their English.”
