Paula Marie Lubrich

Here, she discovered her knack for marketing, thanks to her lecturer’s engaging and interactive approach to teaching. Paula describes the lecturer’s passion for the subject as “contagious.” Every week calls for a new presentation or group project that enables her and her peers to strengthen their marketing knowledge through repetition. “What I also enjoy is how our lecturers provide real-life examples for every topic,” Paula enthuses. “We discussed, for instance, the case of Uniqlo, its expansion to the US, and different marketing strategies used to advertise products we use daily.”

The student is currently applying her newfound skills as an intern in operational research for Wet Wrap Hong Kong, a fledgling make-up start-up. In the summer, she will begin a business development internship at a German logistics company.

Paula’s closest friends just so happened to be HKBU graduates — all of whom were grateful to the university for sparking their personal growth. Paula wanted to follow in their footsteps. The HKBU School of Business offers a lot of scholarship opportunities to support students, and she began looking into programme options that could advance her passion for business.

“I found the Master of Science (MSc) in Business Management (MScBM) programme to be very interesting because students do not simply receive knowledge but also actively apply it to real-life case studies,” she explains. “And, of course, coming from a small university city, I was excited to study on a huge, modern campus.”
