While the elective course “Algorithmic and High-Frequency Trading” is his favourite for its unique ability to “beautifully” combine the disciplines of programming, finance, and mathematics, Fatih loves every bit of the MScFTFA programme — particularly because it is taught by experts. All his educators and lecturers have brought the industry into the classroom through real-world scenarios.

“For instance, in the core course ’Investment Management’, we created our own stock trading tournament and traded as groups with real-life stock market data,” says Fatih, who aspires to one day create his algorithms in the stock market as a Quantitative Analyst. “In this semester, we are now creating our own blockchain in another core course ’Blockchain and Cryptocurrency’ — I enjoy this process so much!”

Fatih has always aspired to change the world, and since a majority of global business-related or technological advancements depended on money, pursuing a postgraduate degree in finance seemed like a logical next step. Discovering HKBU’s Master of Science (MSc) in Finance (FinTech and Financial Analytics) (MScFTFA) programme solidified his decision.

“It offers intense and extensive training both technically and theoretically,” he explains. “The programme has a lot of computer science and technology-related courses that prepare students for tech-intensive careers.”
