Master of Occupational Hygiene and Toxicology

Occupational hygienists are instrumental in identifying, assessing, managing, and controlling hazards that impact both the workforce and the occupational environment at large. ECU’s Master of Occupational Hygiene and Toxicology provides advanced knowledge and skills in this field through multiple hands-on exercises that mirror real-world scenarios. Through workshops, students network with potential future colleagues, mentors and friends. They also learn from experienced certified occupational hygiene leaders and experts in the field.

“It’s a safe environment to ask questions, collaborate, innovate and create practical solutions that they can take back into their workplaces and add value to industry from the moment they begin their studies,” shares Adelle Liebenberg, Lecturer and Course Coordinator of Postgraduate Occupational Hygiene courses.

While this programme is delivered primarily online, students will be expected to attend practical workshops to apply knowledge at ECU Joondalup Campus in Perth for nine days. During this time, they will be able to work with a wide range of state-of-the-art sampling equipment that is hard to come by. “We have the largest teaching and occupational hygiene equipment laboratory in Australia — it has cutting edge equipment, trusted industry favourites, and some historical pieces,” shares Adelle Liebenberg.
